Kaleidoscope Of Environments.

4,000!

Posted in personals by Caleb Hiliadis on December 29, 2011

I’ve really come full circle with this blog. My first blog mind you. And my first encounter with WordPress, which I use now for many other purposes on the daily.

Kaleidoscope of Environments, which is actually a quote from a Richard Brautigan novel, has reached it’s 4,000 view. I decided to start the blog while attending the first year of the now nationally acclaimed (honored by the National Endowment for the Arts) Word X Word Festival in 2009. I have now worked on projects of this sort that reach that many views in a day, but this blog has sentimental value to me.

I decided to put together a series of photos from this year’s wXw of a killer set at Mission Bar + Tapas with the Andy Wrba Quartet who play at Mission every Monday evening. Sitting in with Wrba, McLovin’s guitarist Jeff Howard and stellar sax machine Noah Weiss.

From the first wXw photos I took on my Crackberry Curve 8900 (yes, I still own it) before I owned even a semi-legitimate camera to these seen below, it has been a wonderful journey in between.

And as the new year strolls right around the corner, I plan to give this outlet a little more attention.

CheersCaleb Hiliadis.

So I have taken a hiatus from the painting and I’m not sure when I will get back on that track. I’ve had a few inquiries into poster designs and photographs of late, and that is where my efforts have been concentrated.

Gypsy Layne Burlesque is a Berkshire-grown burlesque troupe that is gaining national recognition. This past summer, the gypsies hiked up to the Wanderlust Festival Vermont annex. They have been asked to potentially perform at every Wanderlust annex around the country this coming summer.

3' x 4' Black Canvas - A Wealth of Possibilities

It’s been quite some time since I have sat down and posted anything to this blog and just about the same amount of time has passed since I’ve touched brush to canvas. This is about to change, as I have just acquired a 3′ x 4′ canvas from Michael’s.

I brought the white wonder down to my unfinished basement to begin some preliminary work. In the past, I have only worked on and completed pieces of this size for an art show in school or for other similar reasons. This time, it’s for real and I’m already enthralled.

My first major work about 5 years ago was brought to Deval Patrick’s inauguration and others have been around the block too. I usually start with no real intention or knowledge of what the final project will be. I’d describe my general style a pseudo-psychedelic mixture of dozens of mediums, melting and flowing into a cohesive moment – interpreted in vastly varying ways by onlookers.

Stay tuned for developments in the piece (I will be posting updates regularly) and any feedback along the well would be most enjoyed!

PodCamp WesternMA 3

Posted in Conference by Caleb Hiliadis on February 14, 2011

This was my first PodCamp and my first conference of this sort, or should I say “unconference” as it is commonly referred to as.

There was simply so much going on there that I could not hit all of it up.

Some highlight sessions were Viral Marketing with Steve Haase, Social Media in Non-Profit Organizations, Geolocation (covering FourSquare, Gowalla and these platforms origin in Geocaching), Internet Journalism and many many many more!!

There was a massive Berkshire showing at PodCamp WesternMA 3 and we all hope to bring a laid back yet extremely informative conference closer to home in the future!

Here are a few photos I managed to grab during the day.
